The CatholicUnderground exists to explore the intersection of the Catholic Faith and the work of modern technology to discover how they compliment and apply to the Church’s mission to the Digital Continent.
Since the 1963 publication of the Conciliar Decree on Social Communications, Inter Mirifica, the Church has called for experts of various types to conduct the work of evangelization in the communications media. Since that time, radio, television and the internet have each become viable media for the proclamation of the Word of God.
The last decade has brought about an increasingly low threshold of expertise to accomplish this work on an increasingly broad scale. Popes Paul VI, John Paul II and Benedict XVI have all repeated the call of the Second Vatican Council to use any and all available media to evangelize and catechize people throughout the world and now that call requires very few resources and skills to accomplish.
Further, the present Holy Father has reminded the world that evangelization is not limited to the mere distribution of information but encompasses a broad variety of philosophies, ideas and activities – the Lord is present and active in all human activity and all human activity can thus point to the Lord!
TheCatholicUnderground exists to explore the intersection of the Catholic Faith and the work of modern technology. Our programs aim to bring the Eternal Truths of the Catholic Faith to the Digital Continent, the Church’s newest mission field, in a manner that is both approachable and unwavering.
