The Jesus Prayer

Posted by Site Webmaster on Friday, October 18, 2013, In : Byzantine Catholics

The Jesus Prayer brings concentration to the mind and helps detach it from its attraction to and domination by all the surrounding objects of the physical world gained through the senses. It brings us back to a unity with God that existed at the time of our creation when we were created in “Gods image.” It is about liberating the soul from the passions of the body so the mind can act out of God’s will to carry out His commandments of love.

We must recognize, howeve...

Our Daily Bread for February 22, 2012

An Ordinary Man

Steve was just an ordinary guy. He quietly served in a church I attended years ago. He helped prepare communion, shoveled the church sidewalks in the winter, and mowed the lawn in the summer. He spent time with teenage boys who had no fathers in the home. I often heard him telling people at church in his quiet way how good the Lord was to him. Posted by Site Webmaster on Sunday, March 27, 2011, In : Catechism Lessons
"Again the high priest asked Him, and said to Him:  Art Thou the Christ the Son of the blessed God?  And Jesus said to him:  I am.  And you shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of the power of God, and coming with the clouds of Heaven.  Then the high priest rending his garments, saith:  What need we any further witnesses?  You have heard the blasphemy.  What think you?  Who all condemned Him to be guilty of death."  (Mark 14:61-64)
  1. Who is Jesus Christ?

Lesson 14: Jesus Christ, Our Savior

Posted by Site Webmaster on Sunday, March 27, 2011, In : Catechism Lessons
"For God so loved the world, as to give His only begotten Son; that whosoever believeth in Him, may not perish, but may have life everlasting.  For God sent not His Son into the world, to judge the world, but that the world may be saved by Him."  (John 3:16-17)
  1. Did God abandon the human race after Adam's sin?
No, He promised to send a savior into the world and to open again the gates of Heaven.
"I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed:  She shall cr...
