During this retreat I have been reading St. Gregory and St. Bernard, both of them concerned with the interior life of the pastor, which must not be affected by external material cares. My day must be one long prayer: prayer is the breath of my life. I propose to recite all fifteen decades of the rosary every day, if possible in the chapel before the Blessed Sacrament, with the intention of recommending to Our Lord and to Our Lady the more urgent needs of my children in Venice and in the diocese: the clergy, young seminarists, consecrated virgins, public authorities and poor sinners.
